How to make this card:
If you do not have 2 square card blanks then you can quite easily make them by measuring and cutting 2 x rectangles of card that measure 125mm x 250mm and then score a fold line down the centre of each of the rectangles using a groove on the GROOVY box & card maker and the paper creaser that comes with it. If you do make the card blanks yourself, the card you use to make them needs to be the same colour on both sides as when it is folded further on you will see both sides of the card.
Using the GROOVY box and & card maker make a groove on the right hand flap of both of the card blanks running diagonally from the top right corner to the bottom left corner. Fold along the crease line bringing the bottom right corner up so it meets the top left corner when it is folded.
Turn one of the card blanks around by 180 degrees and then place the back unfolded side of the card blank flat on top of the inside of the back of the other card blank, the result is that the two folded front flaps of the card blanks close together with a diagonal join. Use double sided sticky tape to secure the backs of the two card blanks together.
Using the diagram below as your guide you can easily make your own symetrical heart templates. You simply take a square of card and fold it in half. Next draw round something circular at the top of the folded card. The circle needs to be the same width as the folded piece of card. Next draw a straight line from the very bottom corner of the folded edge slanting up to meet the circle. Finally cut off the sections shown in pink on the diagram with scissors, unfold and you have a perfect symetrical heart. The right hand image shows the template folded out into a heart shape. Using this method make two heart templates using some spare card – one 8cm and one 10cm heart.
Cover some of the plain red card with some of the red metallic foil paper using glue to secure the foil paper. Draw round the 8cm heart template on the back of the foil covered card, cut the heart out and erase the pencil marks.
Draw round the 10cm heart template on some more of the plain red card, cut the heart out and erase the pencils marks.
Once finished, you can keep the heart templates you made for use in later projects.
Cut a 56cm length of the gold metallic ribbon. Use craft glue to secure the ribbon to the centre of the back of the 8cm red metallic foil heart with around 32cm of ribbon sticking out of the left hand side of the heart and 16cm of ribbon sticking out of the right hand side of the heart.
Next use either glue or double sided sticky tape to stick the top left part of the foil heart to the top left flap of the card blank you made earlier so that when the flaps are closed the heart is central on the card but is not stuck down to the right hand flap.
Apply some hearts from the gold hearts peel off sticker sheet to the top left and bottom right corners of the card blank.
Use either glue or double sided sticky tape to stick the 10cm plain red card heart to the centre of the inside of the card blank.
Stick a ‘To My Valentine’ wording peel off sticker to the centre of the plain red heart inside the card.
Finally to complete the card, wrap the ribbon around the card and tie in a bow on the front right hand side of the card to keep it securely closed as shown in the picture at the top.
