Layered Flower Punch Card

This funky bright and cheerful flowers card is great for cheering somebody up. It can be used for any occasion or with the addition of a wording peel off sticker you can specify an occasion if you wish.

What you will need to make this card:

  1. 7″ x 5″ white card blank
  2. Super Duper Lever Craft Punch – Flower
  3. Super Lever Craft Punch – Flower
  4. Large Lever Craft Punch – Flower
  5. Regular Lever Craft Punch – Flower
  6. Tangerine handmade mulberry paper
  7. Yellow handmade mulberry paper
  8. Emerald green handmade mulberry paper
  9. Pale Yellow handmade mulberry paper
  10. Dark green handmade mulberry paper
  11. Mini flower brads primary
  12. Craft Glue
  13. Sticky Foam Pads
  14. Craft knife, scissors, ruler & cutting mat

How to make this card:

Cut two 15cm long x 2cm wide strips and two 20cm long x 2cm wide strips from the tangerine handmade mulberry paper. Next lay the strips on your craft mat in a rectangle with the corners overlapping and secure with low tac masking tape, using the lines on your craft mat to ensure the strips are all straight and are in a perfect rectangle. The rectangle should measure 128mm (5″) wide x 177mm (7″) long. Take your craft knife and ruler and cut diagonally across each corner cutting through both layers of handmade mulberry paper. This should leave you with a frame with four perfect mitered corners. Click on the image below to see step by step pictures.

Stick the frame to the card blank using double sided sticky tape along all the underside edges of the handmade mulberry paper.

From the dark green handmade mulberry paper use scissors to cut out the 3 flower stems. Stem 1 needs to bend to the left and should be about 6.5cm in length. Stem 2 needs to bend slightly to the left and should be about 11.5cm in length. Stem 3 needs to bend to the right and should be about 8cm in length.

Using the four sizes of flower craft punch, punch out flowers from the different colours of handmade mulberry paper. 1 x Super Duper flower from the yellow paper, 1 x Super flower from the emerald green paper, 1 x Super flower from the pale yellow paper, 2 x Large flowers from the tangerine paper , 1 x Large flower from the emerald green paper, 2 x Regular flowers from the pale yellow paper and 1 x Regular flower from the emerald green paper.

Take the longest stem and the super duper yellow flower and using glue, stick them to the card blank so the flower overlaps the top left of the tangerine frame and covers the top of the stem. The stem should end at the top of the bottom edge of the card frame, trim stem if necessary. Using sticky foam pads stick a super emerald green flower on top of the yellow flower and a tangerine large flower on top of the green flower. Push a green flower brad through the centre of a regular pale yellow flower and layer this on the top again with a foam pad.

Next take the super pale yellow flower and the middle length stem, sticking the flower so it overlaps the right hand side of the tangerine frame and again covers the top of the stem. The stem should end on the right of the other stem at the bottom as before. Use sticky foam pads to stick a large tangerine flower on top of the pale yellow flower. Push a yellow flower brad through the centre of a regular emerald green flower and layer this on the top with a sticky pad.

Stick the last shorter stem to the left hand side of the longest stem and using sticky foam pads stick a large emerald green flower to the top of the stem so the flower slightly overlaps the orange frame on the left. Push an orange flower brad through the centre of a regular pale yellow flower and layer this on the top of the green flower with a sticky pad.

Finally cut a couple of leaves out of the dark green handmade mulberry paper and stick these either side of the three stems.

Tips:

You might find it easier if you lay the stems and bottom layer flowers on the card blank first before sticking them down so you are happy with the positioning first. If you prefer you can use the daisy craft punches in all the same sizes as this would look great too.

Green/White Cricket Card

This is a lovely card idea for a male relation / friend or a cricket fanatic and can be used for any occasion. If you want to make the card for a specific occasion simply add a peel off sticker or greetings banner horizontally or even vertically anywhere on the dark green handmade mulberry paper frame.

What you will need to make this card:

  1. White 7″x5″ card blank
  2. Die-Cut Decoupage Sheet – Cricket
  3. Dark green handmade mulberry paper
  4. Decorating chalks
  5. Sponge dauber
  6. Low tack stencil/masking tape
  7. Double sided sticky tape
  8. Sticky foam pads
  9. Craft knife, pencil, ruler & cutting mat

How to make this card:

Cut two 15cm long x 2.5cm wide strips and two 20cm long x 2.5cm wide strips from the dark green handmade mulberry paper. Next lay the strips on your craft mat in a rectangle with the corners overlapping and secure with low tac masking tape, using the lines on your craft mat to ensure the strips are all straight and are in a perfect rectangle. The rectangle should measure around 11.5cm wide x 16.5cm long. Take your craft knife and ruler and cut diagonally across each corner cutting through both layers of handmade mulberry paper. This should leave you with a frame with four perfect mitered corners. Click on the image below to see step by step pictures (we have used orange handmade mulberry paper here as it shows up better in the photos).

Stick the frame to the card blank using double sided sticky tape along all the underside edges of the handmade mulberry paper.

Next use the sponge dauber and some bright green chalk to make a green coloured border along the inside of the frame. Use a ruler to ensure a crisp straight edge on the card blank inside the frame. Allow the chalk to overlap the frame as this makes a nice lighter green highlight effect on the inside edge of the frame.

Finally press out all of the image ‘A’ sections from the cricket die-cut decoupage sheet and layer them in the correct order on the centre of the card blank (inside the frame) using sticky foam pads.
