Personalised Football Card

This Football birthday card includes the receiving child’s name and is therefore so much more personal. Children love things that are especially just for them so I’ve always found personalised cards to be a big hit both with the parents and children.

Personalised Football Birthday Card

Items you will need to make this card:

  1. A6 scarlet red card blank
  2. Red and white plain card
  3. Woodware regular lever craft punch – square
  4. Free download of the football crazy backing paper
  5. England football strip paper embellishment
  6. Happy Birthday Peel Off Sheet – Red
  7. Alphabet – Upper Case Peel Off Sheet – Black
  8. Double sided sticky tape & 5mm sticky foam pads
  9. Craft knife, cutting mat, pencil & ruler

How to make:

Download the Football Crazy background paper by clicking on this link Football crazy background paper and then print it out.

You will need Adobe Reader to open background paper file, if you do not have Adobe Reader you can download it free from this link to the official Adobe website: Adobe Reader Free Download.

The image should print out to just the right size for the wording to frame the football kit embellishment when it is mounted on the front of the image but the size may vary with different printers. If necessary adjust the print size and re-print.

Using the craft knife, mat and ruler cut out the wording frame so you are left with a small white border around the words, the resulting rectangle should measure around 7.5cm x 10cm. Using double sided sticky tape stick the wording frame centrally onto the card blank. Using sticky foam pads mount the England football kit paper embellishment to the centre of the wording frame.

Place the red Happy Birthday peel off sticker sheet on to your craft mat and with your craft knife carefully cut the joins between one of the the ‘Happy’ and ‘Birthday’ wordings to allow you to use the two words separately. Measure and cut out a rectangle from the white card that measures 7.5cm x 1.25cm and then stick the red Happy Birthday words to it. Using sticky foam pads stick the newly created Happy Birthday banner to the top left of the card.

Punch out a number of squares from the red and from the white card using the regular square craft punch. It will depend on what name you wish to put on the card as to how many squares you need. Using letters from the black upper case alphabet peel off sheet apply the first letter of the name to the centre of a white square. Next stick the second letter to the centre of a red square and continue alternating the colours until you have the full name.

To finish the card use sticky foam pads to stick the letter squares along the bottom of the card spelling out the name. It will depend on how long the name is as to how you space the squares. Here the last letter was placed on the far right hand side and then each letter from there to the beginning of the name. It works well as it balances well with the name being more over to the right as it is opposite to the Happy Birthday being placed on the top left of the card.

You will be able to fit a name of up to 7 characters long and possibly even one of 8 characters if you leave little or no gap between each letter square.

Caterpillar Childrens Project

This is a great fun craft project for you to do with the children. It makes a great keepsake or why not write on the back and give it away as a fun card. If made as shown in the picture, it should fit into a DL size envelope.

Completed Bright Caterpillar

What you will need:

  1. Card of various bright or co-ordinating colours
  2. Woodware Super Craft Punch – Circle
  3. Mixed shape and colour sequins
  4. Mini Glitter Foam Flowers
  5. Black felt tip or marker pen
  6. Scissors
  7. Craft glue

How to make:

Cut out 6 different coloured circles from the card using the super circle craft punch. Use craft glue to stick the six circles together overlapping as shown here:

Bright Caterpillar Stage 1

Use scissors to cut out by hand some feelers (see picture below for idea of shape) – approximate height cm.

Caterpillar Feelers

Use craft glue to stick the feelers to the back of the first circle. This is now the head of the caterpillar.

Caterpillar Stage 2

Using the black felt tip/marker pen draw a smile on the caterpillar face. Next either draw on eyes or stick on two round sequins for eyes as we have done. Finally decorate the body of the caterpillar with mini glitter foam flowers and brightly coloured sequins.

Completed Bright Caterpillar

We have shown above step by step instructions on how to make a brightly coloured caterpillar, below is another finished example in a pretty mix of pink, lilac & purple colours. We have used silver, purple and pink various shaped sequins and cut out a variety of shapes/strips from the spare card in co-ordinating colours to decorate this version of the caterpillar.
