Glittery Heart Toppers

These card toppers look great, are easy to make and can be used for a variety of different types of cards. You don’t have to stick with the colours we have used why not experiment with different colour schemes to suit your card or project.

These are all of the items used to make these various toppers:

  1. Woodware super heart punch
  2. Woodware super duper scalloped square punch
  3. Woodware super duper square punch
  4. Ultra fine glitter – red, Ultra fine glitter -gold &Ultra fine glitter -silver
  5. Pearlised card and / or mirror card
  6. Red ribbon bows. silver ribbon bows & gold ribbon bows
  7. 2cm padded material hearts – red or gold or silver
  8. Sticky foam pads & craft glue

Use the super heart punch to punch hearts out of red card. Next use very sticky glue to make a pattern on the front of each heart and leave to dry until it is just tacky. Once the glue has dried tacky, place the heart onto a sheet of paper and shake fine glitter over the glue design. use a fingertip to rub the glitter into the glue and it will stick wherever you have applied the glue. Brush off any excess glitter onto the sheet of paper and tip back into the glitter pot. Wash your hands before touching anything else as fine glitter gets everywhere!

These three hearts have all been punched from red pearlised card but you could also use mirror card. The first has a silver glitter zig-zag design , the second has been edged in gold glitter and the third has spotty design with red glitter.

Three Glittery Design Hearts

You can simply use the hearts as they are and stick them directly onto a card blank or project using glue or sticky foam pads for a raised 3D effect or why not make them into larger card toppers.

Using the super duper scalloped square and super duper square punches punch out backing squares for your toppers. We have used ivory, gold and silver pearlised card but you can use any colour combination that you like. Stick your hearts onto the centre of the card squares with sticky foam pads. Then for a lovely luxurious 3D look apply additional embellishments with craft glue such as ribbon bows or material padded hearts. Shown below are some ideas, click on each one for a larger image and description of materials used.
