Christmas Tree Peel Off Card

You can make really effective Christmas cards using peel off picture stickers. You can enhance the effect of the peel off stickers that you use in your projects by adding some colour to the the peel off picture. Also if you stick the sticker onto separate card, cut it out and then mount it onto your card you get a nice raised 3D effect making the finished card more interesting than if you stick the sticker straight onto the card surface.

Christmas Tree Peel Off Card

What you will need to make this card:

  1. Small square (120mm x 120mm) pale cream card blank
  2. Christmas Trees Peel Off Sheet – Gold
  3. Some separate plain cream or white card
  4. Coloured felt tip pens
  5. Craft knife, decoupage scissors & ruler
  6. Sticky foam tape/pads

How to make:

Remove a Christmas tree picture sticker from the peel off backing sheet, let the sticker relax for a minute on the end of your craft knife, this will allow it to regain shape if it has stretched and then stick it to the plain cream (or white) card (not the card blank).

Use felt tips pens to colour in the peel off centre sections in appropriate colours. Colours used here are green tree, dark brown tree trunk, yellow star, red/blue tree decorations, orange/purple/blue gift wrapped presents under the tree.

Next take the decoupage scissors and carefully cut round the outside edge of the coloured in Christmas tree peel off image taking particular care around the candles. Then use sticky foam tape/pads to attach the tree to the centre of the card blank.

Then for the four corners of the card remove four of the double holly leaves picture stickers from the peel off backing sheet, again allow each sticker to relax for a minute on the end of your craft knife to regain shape and then stick each one to the plain cream (or white) card (not the card blank).

Use felt tips pens to colour in the holly leaf centre sections in green and the holly berries in red. Use the decoupage scissors again to carefully cut out each set of holly leaves. Then use a small amount of sticky foam tape/pads to attach each of the holly pictures to the four corners of the card blank using a ruler to line them up with each other.

We have not used a sentiment on this card but you could easily add a peel off wording sticker to the bottom centre of the card if you wished, you would just need to place the tree picture a little bit higher to allow for this.

Christmas Tree & Brads Card

Brads are great embellishments for cards, they can be added into most designs to make the card a bit more interesting. Here is a Christmas card that uses mini round brads to make quite a decorative design.

Christmas Tree with Brads Card

What you will need to make this Christmas card:

  1. Small square (120mm x 120mm) white card blank
  2. Some pearlised green card or glitter green card
  3. Woodware Mini Round Brads – Christmas Colours
  4. Silver 5mm Ribbon
  5. Memories Metallic Marker – Glitzy Gold
  6. Happy Christmas Peel Off Sheet – Gold
  7. Craft knife, craft cutting mat, scissors, ruler & pencil.
  8. Sticky foam tape/pads

How to make:

Open the card blank out flat and on the left hand side of the front of the card measure and mark a faint pencil line vertically parallel to and 1.75cm away from the centre fold of the card blank. Measure and make 6 evenly spaced pencil marks along that line where the brads will go. Place the card blank still opened out flat onto a craft cutting mat and using the tip of a craft knife make a small hole at each of the 6 marks.

Cut a 26cm length of the silver 5mm ribbon. The ribbon is placed over the faint pencil line so that when the ribbon is folded over the top and bottom of the card the ends overlap on the inside of the card. As you can see from the picture of the inside of the card below this looks better when the brads are in place rather than having scrappy ends of ribbon at the top and bottom of the inside of the card.

Inside Christmas Tree with Brads card

Holding the ribbon in place push a green mini round brad through the ribbon, then through the top hole in the card and then again through the ribbon on the inside of the card fold the brad prongs back to secure the ribbon. After the top brad add brads in the five other holes (colours in order – red, gold, green, red, gold) so that once you have finished the ribbon is neatly secured on both the inside as well as the outside of the card.

Next draw a funky Christmas tree design of your own choosing in pencil on the green card including a star on top and using scissors cut it out in one piece. Either draw your design on the back of the card or if the card is green on both sides turn the tree over so that any pencil marks do not show on the top.

Colour the star in using the gold metallic marker pen and then place the tree on your cutting mat and using the tip of your craft knife blade again make 6 small randomly placed holes. Push 6 mini round brads through the holes – 3 red and 3 gold and fold the brad prongs back to secure them.

Use sticky foam tape/pads to mount the finished Christmas tree shape on the right of the ribbon & brad border leaving a gap at the bottom of the card for a sentiment.

To finish the card off, remove a ‘Happy Christmas’ wording from the peel off sheet and allow the sticker to relax on the end of your craft knife blade for a short while, this will allow it to go back into shape if it has stretched at all. Then simply place it underneath the Christmas tree and use a ruler to make sure it is straight. Once you are happy with the position of the wording press down on it firmly to stick it in place.
